My passion began with wood-carving when I was about 18 years old. I grew up in an artistic family. Both my mother and father were artists, and things rubbed off on me and my siblings over the years. We share a wide array of talents. I started making Native American style flutes after joining a wonderful internet group of flute makers who were willing and eager to share their knowledge with others. I caught on quick and now I can't get enough of it.

My wife and I had listened to a Carlos Nakai CD for years, and I was always driven by the ancient sounds. Finally one day I decided I wanted to learn how to play, and in researching them on the web, I came across my guides who led the way to making beautiful sounds from wood.

My flutes are Native American Style, which is because I am not a documented Native American. I have been told by my grandmother that there are several Native bloodlines in the family, but my search to pinpoint them has so far not panned out. To give the native ancestors the recognition they have earned, I will call my flutes Native American Style Flutes, as they are made similar to the design of of the Native American Flute. Every artist has their own style and preferences in creating, and I pray that each flute I make truly inspires the spirit within the owner.

We live in a farmhouse I built in Massachusetts with my wife and four sons. I had to build it myself because my love for working with my hands kept me from paying someone else to do it for me. It is a work in progress. We have a huge vegetable garden and an ever-growing herb garden. We are big supporters of organic gardening and farming.

My other passion is Peace. I have another web site, www.BeginWithMe.org, that is dedicated to inspiring people of all races and religions to find a better way. I hope that my flutes will inspire peace in their players as well as their listeners.

The name METTA FLUTES was created from my experiences with Mindfulness Meditation. Metta means Lovingkindness, and I thought it fitting to name my flutes after my other passion.

Please feel free to email me with any questions.

Best wishes!
